Screenly Changelog Episode 7 Feature Releases: Screenly Anywhere, Screenly AlignCentral, Screenly’s Zapier integration, Screenly’s updated browser extension, Screenly’s updated WordPress plugin

Welcome back to the Screenly Changelog! This is our first episode of 2025, and we are excited to share several big updates with our community. The overarching theme of our recent work is to make Screenly more accessible and reduce friction between getting an idea for digital signage content and getting that content up on your screen. You can watch the full Screenly Changelog Episode 7 recording above or check out the feature highlights below.

Screenly Anywhere

Our first announcement, Screenly Anywhere, came from a growing need for more flexible digital signage deployments. For years, users needed to run Screenly on dedicated Screenly digital signage players. That approach is still great if you’re in a high-security environment or just love the hands-on reliability of a dedicated player. Yet, with the rise of smart displays, many people want the ease of using their existing screens. Screenly Anywhere makes that possible, as users can now deploy any hardware that can display a web browser as their digital signage player. You can now log in, pair your screen, and see content playing almost instantly with your existing devices and hardware.

Screenly AlignCentral

Next up is Screenly AlignCentral, which makes it easier than ever for companies to coordinate aligned messaging with their teams and employees, regardless of whether teams are in-office or distributed. Imagine you have a great employee spotlight or an important company announcement. With Screenly AlignCentral, you can make it pop up on traditional office screens and also embed it online through existing company communication platforms so everyone sees it—no matter where they are working that day. For executives eager to keep people connected, this offers a quick, integrated way to share communications that will drive your business forward.

Zapier integration

Screenly’s Zapier integration follows a similar logic: the simpler it is to bring content and data into Screenly, the easier digital signage becomes. Zapier is a popular “no-code” platform that helps different software tools talk to each other. Maybe you have a sales CRM that records a big deal or a Google Drive folder where you drop promotional videos. With the Zapier integration, any of those events can trigger an automatic upload to Screenly. The next time your marketing team finishes a graphic, for instance, they can just add it to a shared folder, and your screens will update themselves—no need for manual logins or repeated uploads. These previous use cases are just a few examples of how teams can use Zapier with Screenly. Zapier integrates with thousands of popular software tools, and we are excited to see what our community builds.

Browser extension for Chrome and Firefox

Not everything you want to show on screens is a plain web page you can simply bookmark. Sometimes, it’s a secure dashboard you have to log into. That’s where the newly updated Screenly browser extension (for Chrome and Firefox) becomes your best friend. Instead of juggling passwords in multiple places, you can open the page in your browser, click the extension button, and let Screenly handle the rest. The extension captures your login session so the screen display remains authorized and up-to-date.

WordPress plugin revival

We also brought back the Screenly WordPress plugin with a fresh overhaul. Many of us use WordPress daily to create updates, blog posts, or company announcements. Converting that content into something that looks great on a big screen often requires playing around with layouts or custom code. The WordPress plugin does that formatting for you. After installing it, any page or post can be turned into a display-friendly layout with a simple link parameter. You can take what you’ve already published on your site and quickly make it part of your digital signage, saving effort and ensuring consistent design.

That’s all for now!

That’s all for now - we look forward to sharing more next month with the Screenly Changelog Episode 8. If you have yet to get started with Screenly, sign up for a 30-day free trial.
