Airtable is a cloud-based tool that combines the flexibility of a spreadsheet tool with the power of a database. Airtable allows you to create tables to store your data, which can include text, numbers, images, and even attachments. You can then organize, sort, and filter your data as needed, and easily collaborate with others on the same table. Airtable can be used for a variety of tasks such as project management, inventory tracking, event planning, and more. It’s a versatile tool that can be customized to fit your specific needs.

There’s no better way to display data from your Airtable account on a TV or monitor, than using Screenly’s digital signage solution. Views can be fetched from your Airtable account and displayed on digital screens using Screenly. These views can be added as content to your Screenly account. They can be added to playlists, and displayed on a screen or group of screens as the user sees fit.

The way to display data from Airtable on screens using Screenly is by adding an Airtable share link as content to your Screenly account.

Getting the share link for the Airtable view

The first step to getting the public share link for your Airtable view is to log in to your Airtable account and access the target Airtable base containing the view. If you do not have a view in your Airtable account, you can create a view for sharing using the data in your Airtable account.

The next step is to click the “Share view” button in the view bar, then click on the pop-up box. This will generate a link that can be used to add your Airtable view as content to your Screenly account.

Preview and copy the share link generated and store somewhere, as it would be used to add the link as content to your Screenly account.

Adding the Airtable views to your Screenly Account

To add your Airtable view as content to your Screenly account, log in to your Screenly account here. If you do not have a Screenly account, register for a 14-day free trial.

After logging into your Screenly account, click on the “New” button on the top right of your screen. Then, click on the “Content” tab in the dropdown menu.

Next, click the URL tab in the popup modal and paste the public URL into the “Enter URL link” input field. Be sure to click “Finish” after you successfully add the URL.

With the above steps completed, you can now add this asset to a playlist. To add your content to a playlist, click the “Playlist” tab from the left-hand menu. If you wish to add a new playlist, click the “+ New Playlist” button on the top right of the new screen that loads. To edit the new playlist or a previously existing playlist, click on the name of the playlist you wish to edit from the list of playlists.

Within the playlist, click the “+” icon in the “Content” section. After clicking the icon, you will see a popup that will allow you to add the Airtable content to the playlist from your content item collection.

In the new “Add content to playlist” popup, find your Airtable content and click the “+” button next to the file. Then, click the “Done” button below. You will then see your Airtable content in the playlist’s content section.

Next to the Airtable content listing, change the listing’s duration to the time you want the report to display on your screen. Be sure to click “Save” on the bottom right.

To assign the playlist containing the Airtable view content to a screen, click on the “Plays On” input field in the “Edit Playlist” section.

A dropdown will appear containing all your group labels and screens. Select the screen or group of screens where you would like the playlist to display. Make sure to click “Save” at the bottom of the dropdown after selecting the screen or group of screens you want.

With this, your Airtable view should now be displayed on the screen(s) assigned to the group of screen(s) you created. See more info on how to navigate Screenly’s web interface here.
